The Bartica Town’s Police are still investigating the Circumstances surrounding an Arson and alleged Murder which occurred around 10.30 pm on Saturday, December 12th,2020, at the Scene of a Wooden Dwelling measuring 24′ × 15′ that was located in the 4 Miles,Housing Scheme Squatting Area, Bartica Town, which was destroyed by Fire, and the Charred remains of a Woman and her Two Children were subsequently found in the aftermath rubble of the Fire on Saturday Night,December 12th,2020.

Reports are that Ranks on Duty at Bartica Police Station had received a Telephone Call informing them of the Fire on Saturday Night,December 12th,2020,and as a result, the Police and the Guyana Fire Service responded to the Scene of the Crime, where the Police acting on Information received then, conducted a Search in nearby Bushes situated close to the House and arrested the Suspect , who is 36-Years-old Kenford Downer also known as ‘Tallman’ he is the reputed Husband of the Woman and Father of the Children,he was then escorted to seek Medical Attention at the Bartica Town’s Regional Public Hospital under Police Guard,it was whiles being escorted by the Police from the Crime Scene that the Suspect was overheard saying “It overbearing, I can’t bear it no more, I can’t bear it no more budday…you know wuh is it to come home and meet your Woman talking to another Man and she Brother deh right there.”

Initially at the Crime Scene in the presence of the Police, the Suspect had reportedly related that he had arrived Home and overheard Carolina speaking to a Man who he suspected she was having an Affair with,and as a result, he became angry, proceeded to the back of the House where he doused the House with Gasoline and set it alight.

Dead are Carolina Kennedy, 48 Years , and her Two Daughters, Marianna Downer, 5 Years and Gabriella Kennedy, 3 Years.

The Family of Deceased Carolina Kennedy have also publicly declared that relationship between the Deceased and the Suspect was an abusive one,where she did not heed to their pleadings of leaving the Relationship.

In recent times a Woman was murdered in another situation that also evolved around Domestic Violence in the presence of her Children at an Area around Five Miles on the Bartica Potaro Road ,Bartica Town.The Matter is currently engaging the Bartica Magistrate Court ‘s Attention.

AUTOPSIES

Autopsies performed on Monday,December 14th,2020 at the Memorial Funeral Home on the charred remains of Carolina Kennedy and her Two Daughters, who perished in a Fire which was allegedly set to their Four Miles Housing Scheme,Bartica Town Home on Saturday Night,December 12th,2020 revealed that their cause of death is “undetermined”, due to the extent to which the Bodies were burnt. The Pathologist was unable to determine their cause of the death.

The Bartica Town’s Police are still continuing with their investigations relatively into this Occurrence.
