KALUNE COMMUNITY POLICING GROUP LAUNCHED
The Regional Police Division Number Seven in collaboration with the Executive Council of the F1 Community Policing Division, and it’s Community Policing Laison Officer, Ms Gwendolyn Jeffrey on Friday, August 5th,2022 launched the Kalkune Community Policing Group, in the Municipality of Bartica, Region Seven.
The Kalkune Community is located in a Northern Direction, about 1500 Meters in distance from the Four Miles Housing Scheme along the Mazaruni River, in the Municipality of Bartica, it is Home to about 250 Residents.
The Kalkune Community can be accessed from the Mazaruni River, and also overland through a Trail , with it’s surface currently in a deplorable state, from the Four Miles Housing Scheme Area.
The Community boasts a Playing Field Area and also enjoys Cellular Communication access, however to date, the Community also does not enjoy access to the Electricity and Water Utilities, of the Municipality of Bartica.
The elected Members of the Kalkune Community Policing Group’s Executive Council are:-

The process of Elections were supervised by both Divisional Chairman Mr Roy Francis , and Ms Gwendolyn Jeffrey, Laison Officer for the Community Policing F1 Division.
Observing this Election Process were Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP. Mr Mervin Anthon , Officer in Charge of the Bartica Town’s Police Station and Police Corporal Mr Richard Leacock.
The Charge after the Elections was then given to the Kalkune Community Policing Group’s Executive Council by ASP. Mr Mervin Anthon. He congratulated them about their commitment, towards having the best interests for their Community at focus.He also encouraged them to continue maintaining on those aspirations , as they simultaneously partner with the Police to mutially preserve an appreciated level of Community Relationship towards fostering the best interests of the Community.
ASP Mr M Anthon also reassured the Group that support in the form of Training and Guidance, will be provided to the Group through existing Programs with the Executive Council of the F1 Community Policing Division.
The Kalkune Community Policing Group is now making arrangements for it’s inaugural Statutory Meeting, to formalize Community Policing Plans and Activities for the Kalkune Community.
