FORUM HOSTED WITH BARTICA TOWN’S WATER TAXIS’ OPERATORS AND OWNERS

A Forum was hosted on Wednesday Afternoon August 17th, 2022 at the Bartica Town’s T&HD Stelling Complex Venue with Stakeholders, who are involved in providing Water Taxis’ Transportation Services on the Parika / Bartica Route.

This Forum focused primarily on the recent Public Notice, issued by the Maritime Administration Department MARAD., on August 8th,2022 , about the current Fare Structure.

Particpants at this Forum included : Captain Mr. John Flores and Attorney at Law Ms. Tiffany Hohenkirk, both were Representatives from MARAD; Mr. Stephen Belle, President of the Bartica Speed Boat Association; His Worship, Mr. Gifford Marshall , the Mayor of Bartica Town ; Commander of Regional Police Division Number Seven, Senior Superintendent Mr Dion Moore; Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP, Mr Mervin Anton, Officer in Charge of Bartica Town’s Police Station; with Operators and Owners of Water Taxis on the Bartica/ Parika Route.

The Regional Commander, was integrally involved in organizing this Forum with the primary concern of providing clarity to the Operators and Owners, about the current Fare Structure.

Owners and Operators also utilized the opportunity to highlight on other
Matters , confronting their operations , for the purpose of ultimate Resolutions.

In Mr. Flores presentation to this Forum, he highlighted that the official Fare being recognized, by the Subject Ministry, for the Bartica/ Parika Route, is $2,500.00. In response to the Issues raised by Operators and Owners, Mr Flores encouraged them to formally engage in a procedural mode through their Association, to the relative Authorities about their current operational Issues, that are now affecting their Services, for ultimate Resolutions.

The Operators and Owners were then urged to comply with the current Fare Structure of $2,500:00 for the Bartica/ Parika Route ,in the interim, as they formally seek to engage the relative Authorities about their current uncomfortable operational circumstances.
