PASSENGERS EVACUATED AFTER WATER SEEPAGE INTO BARTICA WATER TAXI.

Passengers aboard a Water Taxi that was travelling upstream on the Essequibo River, to the destination of Bartica Town yesterday Tuesday, August 23rd, 2022, had to be safely evacuated to the Eastern Shore Line of the Essequibo River, around the Stampa Area, after an unusual, and unsafe amount of Water, began to seep into the Vessel.

The Vessel had reportedly departed the Parika Location after 16:00 Hours, and during the occurrence of this unusual Incident, the displeasure and discomfort of all who were on-board were compounded further, with the prevaling Rainy Weather Conditions.

Fortunately the Passengers were able to communicate with Persons on Bartica Town, where a prominent Water Taxi Owner then selflessly undertook the task to travel to the Scene , and collect the Passengers, and then transport them all safely, to their Destination.

All Passengers that had earlier disembarked the Parika Location enrouted to Bartica Town, were all subsequently accounted for, on the Bartica Town’s T&HD Stelling, at around 18:33 Hours, on Tuesday, August,23rd, 2022.

A Report was formally made to the Body with direct oversight of all operations of Water Taxis , where it is now anticipated, that an investigation into all the circumstances surrounding this occurrence, will imminently unfold.
