MINING WEEK ACTIVITIES CULMINATED WITH PORK KNOCKER DAY

The Activities for Mining Week 2022 culminated on Saturday, August 27th,2022 with the hosting of Pork Knockers’ Day at the Venues of Puruni,Region Seven; Mahdia, Region Eight; and Port Kaituma , Region One, under the Theme: ‘Emerging from Adversity, Transitioning to Sustainability.’

The Ministry of Natural Resources’ Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) coordinated Pork Knockers Day Activities which included Games and interactive educational Sessions among Miners and other Stakeholders to highlight some of the physically demanding Activities of Pork Knockers and the way of life of early Miners.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission would like to express appreciation to all those who participated in Mining Week 2022 Activities and looks forward to greater collaboration towards more responsible and environmentally safe Mining Practices for the benefit of all Guyanese.
