TWO MISSING AFTER RIVER MISHAP IN THE ESSEQUIBO RIVER
Two Passengers remain missing after the Passenger Vessel that they were travelling in from Parika to Bartica Town , encountered a Mishap around the Calf Island Area, in the Essequibo River, and sank at around the period of 18:45Hrs to 19:00Hrs., on Saturday, September 17th,2022.
The Passenger Vessel reportedly bearing the Identification Markings of ” Carlos” had Ten Passengers onboard, along with the Captain, 34-Years-old Jermin Blackman of Two Miles Potaro Road, Bartica Town , Region Seven
and his 18-Years-old Bowman, Lamuel Allen, of Four Miles Housing Scheme , Bartica Town, Region Seven.
Blackman had reported that during the Journey , the Vessel became punctured whiles navigating around a damaged Beacon at the Calf Island Area in the Essequibo River.The Captain further reported that he then attempted to sail to Shore, but the Vessel sunk before reaching Shore, where the Passengers then began swimming to the Shore for safety.

Public-spirited Persons from Bartica Town after becoming aware of this Mishap mobilised themselves, and went to the Location where they assisted in rescuing the Survivors.
Upon checking,31 Years old Alvin Leitch called ‘Spanish Boss’ of Charlestown, Georgetown and 43 Years old Randy Adams called ‘Addi’, a Businessman of 1093 Mongrippa Bartica Town, Region Seven, were unaccounted for, the Survivors were then taken to the Bartica Town’s Regional Public Hospital for Medical Attention.
A Search Party is currently in the Area making Checks for the Two missing Persons, as both the Captain and Bowman are now in the Custody of the relevant Authorities, assisting them with their Investigations into the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate occurrence.
