DRUG DEMAND REDUCTION UNIT HOSTED WORKSHOP IN REGION SEVEN

The Drug Demand Reduction Unit of the Ministry of Health has completed yet another Capacity Building, and Substance Misuse Sensitisation Session, which is part of a Flare of Workshops being conducted by the Unit.

The recent Workshop was successfully hosted at the Bartica Town’s Regional Public Hospital’s Board Room Venue, through a collaboration between the Regional Health Office of Region Seven, and the Ministry of Health.

The Agenda of the Workshop focussed primarily on providing Participants with the necessary Knowledge on how to screen for Drug use, how to provide interventions, and how to conduct referral Recommendations to Drug Treatment Specialists.

This Workshop was also noted as timely and relevant, since there is a noted increase prevalence in the use of licit, and illicit Substances, such as : Alcohol, Marijuana, Ecstasy, Molly and Over the Counter Drugs (OTC).

Among those present at this said Event were : Professionals from the Regional Health Sector, the Regional Education Department, the Regional Child Care Protection Agency,Regional Police Division Number Seven ,with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Faith-Based Organisations and other similar Groups that are based in the Municipality of Bartica, Region Seven .
