HOUSEWIFE ALLEGEDLY ATTEMPTING TO TRAFFIC TEEN GIRL NABBED WITH GANJA AT BARTICA TOWN STELLING
A 35-Years-old Housewife of Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo, was arrested in Bartica Town, Region Seven on Wednesday,October 5th,2022 after 438 Grams of Marijuana was found in her possession.
Police Headquarters, in a Statement, stated that Information was received that the Woman was also suspected of trafficking a 14-Years-old Girl.
At about 13:30Hrs,on the said Date , Police contacted the Woman and the Child when they had disembarked a Water Taxi (Speedboat) at the Bartica Town’s Stelling, they were then invited to the Bartica Town’s Police Station where a Search was conducted on the 35-Years-old Woman, and a bulky Parcel wrapped with Black Plastic and transparent Tape was found in a Brown Haversack that was in the Woman’s possession at the said time.
The Parcel was then cut open in the Woman’s presence, and Ranks discovered inside a Quantity of Leaves, Seeds and Stems suspected to be Cannabis. The Woman was then cautioned by the Police, after which she admitted ownership of the suspected Marijuana,which was subsequently weighed in her presence and amounted to 438 Grams. The Woman was then placed into custody pending relative Charges.
Meanwhile, the 14-Years-old Girl was interviewed regarding the ‘trafficking’ Information received by the Police, and she revealed that she and the 35-Years-old Woman are Friends.
The Girl stated she was told by the Woman, that she was being taken to Blue Mountain Backdam to work at a Shop to sell Alcoholic Beverages.
A Child Care and Protection Officer and other Authorities were informed. The 14-Years-old Girl is currently with the Child Care and Protection Agency as Investigations are continuing.
