DEMERARA HARBOUR BRIDGE WAS SET TO BE REOPENED AT 21:00 HRS TONIGHT FOR LIGHT TRAFFIC
Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill confirmed the re-opening of the Demerara Harbour Bridge,DHB., at 21:00Hrs., tonight, where only Vehicles below the Weight limit of 12 Tonnes being allowed to traverse in the interim. Minister Edghill also told the Media on Site tonight, that some of the empty Trucks will be allowed to cross once they do not exceed the 12 Tonnes Weight Limit. Minister Edghill also noted then, that ‘Tens of Millions’ were expended for the repair Works to the Demerara Harbour Bridge, DHB.
Minister Edghill tonight also commended the Team at the DHB.,that had been working non- stop, since the Incident occurred Saturday Morning last, he said the Men and Women had done an extraordinary Job , that is sufficient to allow light traffic to traverse the Demerara Harbour Bridge in the interim.
Following Minister Edghill’s Announcement, Engineers and other Workers cheered and celebrated at the DHB Site. Minister Edghill also applauded the local Contractors and Fabricators too, who had provided the necessary Materials for the Repair Works.
He also said: “Our Guyanese Men have shown their capacity.We also want to take this time to thank the Water Taxis [that] came out with great support, they are normally 12-Hours Taxis, they did 24- Hours, and by tomorrow Morning we will be able to get back to some semblance of normalcy.”
