ICONIC DIWALI FESTIVITIES 2022 RETURNS IN FULL

Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, is usually a grand celebration in Guyana with an iconic Motorcade being among the highlights of the local Festivities.

In the preceding Two Years the COVID-19 Pandemic disrupted the Annual Celebrations, however plans are on stream for the hosting of this Year’s 2022 Diwali Motorcade, and a Suite of other Activities Countrywide.

Guyana’s Motorcade, which was first held almost 50 Years ago, is a unique and an “iconic” part of the local Festivities.

Celebrating a previous occassion of Diwali in Bartica Town, Region Seven.

Motorcades this Year will be held in various Areas across the Country, with the usually grand, and spectacular Motorcade from Campbellville – Georgetown, to La Bonne Intention (LBI) – East Coast Demerara. This Motorcade is scheduled for Sunday, October 23rd, 2022- the Eve of Diwali. Accompanying this grand Motorcade also, is a Cultural Show at the LBI Centre Ground,ECD., where this Motorcade will eventually end it’s Journey in Region Four.

Celebrating a previous occassion of Diwali at Bartica Town’s Triveni Mandir.

In the Municipality of Bartica, Region Seven, the Triveni Mandir’s Annual Diwali Motorcade is also scheduled to be hosted on Sunday,October 23rd, 2022. This Motorcade will commence at 17:00 Hrs., / 5 pm., under Police Escort, from the Triveni Mandir’s Location at Third Avenue, and Fifth Street Bartica Town, then wend it’s way through an identified Route around Central Bartica Town, and return to the Triveni Mandir’s Location,where a Cultural Extravaganza is also scheduled to commence at 19:00Hrs. It is also noted that after the Motorcade,delicious Sweet Meats, and Vegetarian Dishes would be freely available at the Triveni Mandir’s Location, as Barticans also commemorate this Year’s 2022 Occassion of Diwali, the Festival of Lights.

President of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha (GHDS) Dr. Vindhya Persaud in Statement with the Media on Friday, October 14th, 2022 also highlighted that, because the Diwali Motorcades have become a staple part of Guyana’s Cultural Activities,
she believes that it’s return this Year will enthral Thousands of People, for
the Motorcade has already established itself to be more than a Hindu Festivity here in Guyana, more importantly, with the collective anticipation, and adoration that usually comes along with this particular Activity by all Guyanese, it is a perfect example of the Cohesion that should always be strived for.

Finally, Rangoli Competitions across the Country, including the Georgetown Inter-Schools Rangoli Competition, scheduled for this coming Wednesday at the Dharmic Kendra in Prashad Nagar,Georgetown City, joins this Year’s Celebrations in Region Four.
