REGIONAL POLICE DIVISION NUMBER SEVEN LAUNCHES ITS YEAR END CHRISTMAS POLICING ACTIVITIES

The Regional Police Division Number Seven on Tuesday 15th November 2022 launched it’s Divisional Year End Christmas Policing Plan at the Boardroom of the Bartica Town’s Municipality Office, First Avenue, Bartica Town, Region Seven.In attendance were Stakeholders from the Municipality of Bartica, and Region Seven.

Welcome to the Occassion and Opening Remarks were done by Deputy Commander Mr Oswald Pitt, who introduced the Regional Divisional
Commander Senior Superintendent Mr Dion Moore, to deliver the feature Power Point Presentation of the Regional Division’s 2022 Year End Christmas Policing Plan.

POWER POINT PRESENTATION

He proceeded to describe the Physical and Geographic Administrative Features of the Division,highlighting that there is an anticipated increase of Socio- Economic Movements and there will also be an increase of Policing Activities. A description of what are Divisional Policing Plans was then given, where an increase of coordinated Riverain and Lands Patrols, that will also focus on the Mining Areas will unfolded during the Period.

Commander Moore mentioned that Policing focus will be intensified due to the fact that the Year end of 2022 will be different than 2021 with the absence of Covid-19 National Emergency Protocols and restrictions being lifted. The Commander then provided Crime Statistics and Information of Crime Hotspots. The Commander then n a subtle tone declared that Statistically, the Division has experenced a decline in Criminal Activities for 2022, he then purposefully interjected into the thought flow of those in attendance to ask if they were not proud to know that the Systems are working.

ACCOMPLISHMENT

Commander Moore also highlighted that todate the List of Convictions so far totalled 51 Convictions, another example to indicate that Systems are working.

ISSUES AND CONCERNS

Commander Moore then highlighted on Divisional Issues and Concerns, such as Language Barriers, deplorable Trails and Assess Way: Low and High Water Levels.Disruptive Communications due to the remoteness of certain Locations and unfavourable Weather Conditions, results in untimely information due to disruptive Communication , however he mentioned also that Strategies implemented in 2021 to areas that were not secure are now secured, but the shift of Miners and Residents to other Areas means that Crime Fighting Tactics, Skills and Strategies are also adjusted proportionately.

COMMUNITY OUTREACHES

Commander Moore also further confirmed that a Divisional Youth empowerment Program continue to thrive, and the newly introduced Fortnightly Sub Division Meetings boost such a Program with the Regional Intelligence Monthly Meetings.

The Traffic Statistics and an Analysis of Strategies that will be undertaken about Traffic Flow for the Municipality of Bartica, Sub Division #1 with the Areas of special focus was then provided, and also Immigraton Check Points will be focussed on in the Sub- Division #2 Upper Cuyuni/ Mazaruni.
The Commander then highlighted that
Traning for Ranks was done in the Areas of Gender base Crime, First Aid, Statistics, IT Technology for Bartica and close Environs.

Crime prevention Tips and Plans were also provided for the Period in focus.

STAKEHOLDERS RESPONSE:

REO for Region Seven Mr Kerwin Warde then congratulated the Divisional Commander for the Division’s on behalf of the Regional Administration and urge everyone to work together for Safety.

Regional Chairman Mr Kenneth Williams then made the suggestion about collective lobbying for an improvement of Communication Systems with Digital Technology, and encouraged the Division on behalf of the RDC to continue with their good Works.

Commander Moore then responded to this Issue of deplorable Trails in Several Areas he indicated that the Issue is beyond his control for as a Body only Information can be relayed.
In regards of Communication he said that with certain Devices you can only comunicate once there is a Service Provider Spectrum and that also too depends only on good Weather Conditions.

Mr. Anthony Murray, President of the BCCI then commended the Power Point Presentation and endorsed that the BCCI., will continue to collaborate with Stakeholders for Security.

Mr. Gifford Marshall, Bartica Town’s Mayor then expressed of his expectations of a Christmas Tree Light Up and also endorsed that the Municipality will continue to support the Regional Police Division Number Seven.

In summary this Activity’s aim is to enlighten all the Stakeholders, on the Security Posture that will be operational during the Christmas Season, where Policing Arrangements in the Region will be intensified commencing from the 15th of November 2022 to January 15th, 2023.Mention was also made on Crime mitigation Methods, and as such, there will be heightened intelligence-led- special Operations, Foot Patrols, Bicycle Patrols, Mobile Patrols, and fixed Points Policing. In addition, at strategic Points in the Number Two Sub-Division Upper Region Seven there will be a heavy focus also on probable transnational Crime such as Arms Couriering at our Border between Brazil and Venezuela to ensure a safe and secure environment for all in Region Seven and Guyana at large by extension.
