SIMMONS HAT TRICK FIRES REGION SEVEN INTO SEMIS OF ONE GUYANA PRESIDENT CUP

Andrew Simmons continued his fine Goal-scoring form to register a “Hat-Trick” of Goals that powered Region Seven into the Semi-Finals of the One Guyana President’s Cup.

Region Seven hosted Region Eight at the Municipal Centre Ground of Bartica Town, Region Seven on December 25th,2022, and dominated the Encounter to win 3 Goals -1 Goal while the formidable Region Four sealed their Spot in the next Phase via a 2-1 win over Region Six at the Buxton Community Centre Ground.

Simmons made his First successful Shot on Target in the Eighth Minute, followed by another in the Second Minute of the First-Half Injury Time.

Levi Wilson looked to make it interesting by pulling One back for the Lads from Potaro – Siparuni, in the 76th, however, Nine Ninutes later, Simmons put the Match “to bed” for Region Seven, and completed his “Hat-Trick”.

Meanwhile, the Number of Goals would have reduced for Region Four, but the Wins are still coming as they got the better of Region Six 2-1.

Region Six took the lead in the 60th via Devon James, but an own Goal by Murphy Felix Three Minutes later brought the Demerara – Mahaica Side “back into the Mix”.

Threvon Pluck then sealed the Match for Region Four in the 72nd Minute.

Region Four is also through to the next Phase


Tonight (December 26th,2022) at the National Track and Field Facility, West Coast Demerara, will mark the Final “round-robin” Matches, and it is expected to be an “all-out” Battle as Region Three, Region 10, and Region Five can still qualify.

Region Three currently has Seven Points while both the E-Net-sponsored Region 10, and Region Five, have Five Points, in the Battle for the Top-Two Spots.

Region Five will be in action against the winless Region Two from 18:00H followed by the Host, and Region 10 from 20:30H.

For each Win in the Group Stage, Teams will pocket $200,000. If the G
ame ends in a Draw, the Teams will share the Spoils.

In the Semi-Finals, a Win is worth $400,000. The winning Team will walk away with $2M. Second Place gets $1M.
