MALE BARTICAN AMONG THE FOUR FATALITIES FROM GREENWICH PARK ACCIDENT

Police have confirmed that a total of Four Persons including a Minibus Driver, perished from an Accident that occurred at Greenwich Park, East Bank Essequibo (EBE), on Monday, March 6th,2023 at around 9:30 Hours.

50 Years old Bartican Vernon Prowell was the Driver of the Minibus, bearing License Registration Number Plate BWW 8364. The Three other Victims, were Passengers of the said Bus.

Dead are Vernon Prowell, 50 Years, also of Bent Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown; Margaret Kennedy, 72 Years, of Tuschen; Olga Reddy, 57 Years , of Parika, and Elvis Charles, 40 Years of Ruby, East Bank Essequibo.

The Minibus

The other Vehicle involved in the Accident was Motor Lorry bearing License Registration Number Plate GZZ 2285 being driven by Ewart Stewart, 38 Years, of Stewartville, West Coast Demerara.

The Motor Lorry

According to a Police Statement, the Motor Lorry was proceeding East along the Northern Side of the Public Road, at an estimated fast Rate of Speed while approaching a Pedestrian Crossing. The Minibus was heading in the opposite Direction.

The Police explained: “The Lorry’s Driver claimed that a Black Motorcar, bearing License Registration Number Plate HD 1708 was proceeding in front of him in the said Direction, and made a sudden stop at the Pedestrian Crossing.” Upon noticing this, Stewart further told the Police that he applied Brakes, and swerved to avoid colliding with the Motorcar. “In the process, the Lorry collided with the Right-Side front portion of Minibus, bearing License Registration Number Plate BWW 8364, which was proceeding in the opposite Direction,” the Police said.

As a result of the Impact, Passengers in the Minibus, namely: Margaret Kennedy, a 72-Years-old Female of Tuschen; Olga Reddy, a 57-Years-old Female of Parika; and Elvis Charles, a 40-Years-old Male of Ruby, E.B.E, received Injuries about their Bodies, and were escorted to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where they all died while receiving Medical Treatment.

The Minibus Driver Vernon Prowell, and Passengers Stella Parhoo, a 73-Years-old Female of Parika, and Severn Austin, a 44-Years-old Male of Den Amstel, were seen and examined by Dr. Outar and subsequently transferred to the West Demerara Regional Hospital for further Medical Treatment. The Minibus Driver, Vernon Prowell, was further transferred to the St Joseph Mercy Hospital, where he succumbed to his Injuries while receiving Medical Treatment.

Shemar Alleyne, a 21-Years-old of Tuschen; Selmont Brisport, a 64-Years-old of Tuschen; Samuel Ramdas, a 46-Years-old Male of Ruby Backdam, and Junior Jack, a 25-Years-old Male of Tuschen were seen, and examined by Dr Outar who later admitted them as Patients at the Leonora Cottage Hospital. They were all Occupants of the Minibus bearing License Registration Number Plate BWW 8364.

A Breath Analysis was conducted on the Lorry Driver, with the Result of .00%.

The Police Investigations are still ongoing, and the Four Bodies are currently at the Ezekel Funeral Parlour, pending a Post-Mortem Examination.
