BARTICA TOWN COUPLE SUFFERS MILLIONS IN LOSSES AFTER FIRE RAZES THEIR DWELLING
Fire of unknown origin engulfed and destroyed a Concrete structured Building at around 15:15 Hours,on Sunday, March 12th,2023 at Lot 40 Second Avenue Bartica Town. This Location is the Third Lot North,on the Western Side of Second Avenue, from the Fifth Street and Second Avenue Junction, where the Vendors Arcade is located in Bartica Town,Essequibo River, Region Seven.
This Concrete structured Two Bedrooms Building where the Peril occurred, was the back Building in a Yard with Two Houses.This said Building measured about 30 Feet in Length and 20 Feet in Width, resting upon Concrete Columns, that are around 2.5 Meters in Height above the ground Level.
This Building was the Home of 31 Years old Mr. Dheeshon Rohit a Welder by Profession, and his reputed Wife 28 Years old Ms. Camacy Hendricks, a Cashier. They have reportedly stated that their Building was uninsured, and are also now claiming that their estimated total losses could be about $10M.
Ms. Camacy Hendricks reportedly claimed that at the time mentioned, of the occurrence of this Peril, she was alone at Home watching Television, when she heard Two loud exploding Sounds originating from beneath the House, she then ventured outside of the Building from where she was , only to discover that the Area beneath the said House was engulfed in Smoke and Fire. She then ran onto the Road and raised an Alarm.
Residents nearby then summoned the Bartica Town’s Fire Service Chapter where an expeditious response unfolded to the Scene with Two Fire Tenders, and a Team of Eight valiant Fire Fighters. They were eventually able to extinguish the Fire, a while before 17:50Hours, however only the Concrete Structure of the said Building remained standing.
Personnel from Bartica Town’s GPL Chapter after deactivating Electrical Power Supply to the Area also visited the Scene of the Peril, and deactivated further connection of a GPL Electrical Power Supply Line to the said Building, to aid further also, in the collective Fight towards controlling, and containing the damages of the Fire.
Police Ranks were also at the Scene, and efficiently maintained Order around the Area, they also too conveniently controlled the flow of Traffic around the Area on Second Avenue, Bartica Town.
Investigations are still ongoing to now determine the proximate cause of the Fire, with other relative assessments.
The efforts by all Parties, who were collectively responsible towards the eventual control of the Fire, are now being silently recognized by appreciative Residents who are in proximity. They are now indeed grateful for the level of control and containment achieved from the Peril, particularly in the prevailing hot Temperatures and mild windy Weather Conditions at the said time, combined with the preoccupied uneasy Fact then, that there were many other Buildings in close proximity of the Fire.
A creditable work performance was definitely achieved by all Stakeholders, save except the damages done to the said Building, and unfortunate Losses, now being experienced by the Couple whose Home was in this said Building.
The Municipality of Bartica however, still needs to continue upgrading it’s Land and Marine Peril averting Capacity, to cater, in efficiently confronting any such unwanted eventualities. This is an evident need, particularly with the booming construction of many high rise Edifices around the Municipality of Bartica.
